This is the fifth book in the ‘Handbook for Textile Processors Series’. In this book I have tried to give the processing details for Fibres, Yarn and Knitted Fabrics. In normal text books general theories of dyeing and processes for various dyes on different fibres are dealt but not of different substrate forms. Even though theory of dyeing may remain same but procedures and processes may vary according to substrate form and machineries used. Here I have explained the specific processes for dyeing of Fibres, Yarn and Knitted fabrics. The various topics related to the title are divided into 10 sections. Chapter 1 provides a snapshot of energy conservation globally and defines the important parameters in energy. It outlines the need for energy conservation by highlighting the aspects of power transmission in India and the deficiency in its capacity. Chapter 2 discusses the types of energy sources and the conversion technologies to produce electricity from such sources. Chapter 8 provides information on the energy conservation techniques available to ancillary departments like electrical, compressor, humidification and lighting systems. Chapter 9 states the various performance indicators of energy conservation and scientifically narrates the method of conducting an audit. Chapter 10 provides information about the global environmental issues and the impact on environment due to process wastes from Textiles. The book will provide a broad framework to the understanding of various textile processes and the energy savings attainable due to implementation of energy saving technologies and would prove useful to a spectrum of readers, encompassing students, researchers, industrialists and academicians, as well as practicing professionals in the textile industry.
